Living the Dream!

For years now I have had the dream of living on a farm in Wales and running a wellness centre, The Centre for Health and Healing.  I set myself the goal of achieving this dream in 2013.

In April this year I received a letter from Pembrokeshire Council telling me about a farm tenancy that had come up for grabs – I have been on their waiting list for over 2 years since I heard of a farm up for rent but the timing was not right and I didn’t have enough time then to put in an application.  This time I was in the know from the start and spent 2 weeks writing and re-writing my business plan and getting it scrutinised by a management accountant. I duly sent off my application complete with business plan etc and now I have to play the waiting game!

The next step in the selection process is shortlisting.  The Council have to go over all of the applications they have received and pick a shortlist of candidates who are then allowed to visit the farm for an open day.  Then the successful tenant will be chosen from those candidates who chose to remain in the running after the open day.

The closing date for applications was April 20th and I was told that shortlisted candidates should hear within 10 days, but no! I am still waiting and it is now May 14th. Today I rang to find out more and was told that they have not done the shortlist yet and it might be next week, maybe.  So, I am waiting very impatiently. Patience has always been something I have had to strive to achieve and never quite mastered it!

So, on the understanding that the Universe would not let me get this far only to let me down, I am beginning a blog about Living the Dream!

The Farm. A former dairy farm in Pembrokeshire, South Wales, UK.  Acres of land, outbuildings and a farmhouse. Fabulous  countryside, 8 miles from the beach and the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park.

My Vision for the Farm. To offer a wide range of courses and weekend experiences in the form of raw food retreats, knitting and traditional crafts, residential dog obedience training, alternative therapies, gardening and permaculture along with high quality camping with tepis and log cabins available onsite.  The possibilities for events and workshops are endless!

So, I just have to keep a positive mind set and know that my vision is out there in the Universe just waiting to be fulfilled and in the meantime I can begin preparing myself for the next chapter in the story of Living the Dream!
